Vision Beyond Borders is committed long-term to helping the Church in crisis and demonstrating a compassionate witness to those who have fled conflict and from radical Islamic terrorism in the Middle East. Many of the organizations that initially provided humanitarian aid to the refugees have left. Radical Islamic terrorism continues to wreak havoc in the Middle East and it is important that we do not forget these people who are in such great need! As countless numbers continue to flee and remain displaced, without stable living conditions and deprived of even the most basic needs of food, shelter, and clothing we must demonstrate the love of Christ in practical ways.
We continue to send containers of emergency humanitarian relief throughout the Middle East where contacts are distributing the contents to refugees. These containers will be on- going to provide urgent basic necessities, such as hygiene items, medicine, medical supplies, clothing, shoes, blankets, and school supplies. The refugees have been through so much and their physical needs are overwhelming. Consider donating a “Hygiene Pack” to send to a refugee. We are also in need of funds to ship the containers. Shipping a container to the Middle East will cost anywhere from $5,000 - $12,000. Hygiene packs include 1 bar of soap, 1 bottle of shampoo, a toothbrush toothpaste, 1 razor, 1 deodorant, 1 comb, & 1 washcloth all in a gallon Ziploc bag. In Northern Iraq, it costs almost twice as much to ship the containers to the refugees there. The containers must first be shipped to Turkey and then trucked across the country and into Northern Iraq. There are many checkpoints that make travel with a container difficult as they work to keep supplies out of the hands of ISIS. However, because it is so difficult to get supplies to this area, they are receiving little support from other organizations.
